The Kew Gardens (also known as the Royal Botanical Gardens) is a world famous centre for botanical knowledge, contributing to bettering an understanding of plants and fungi.

The gardens have been open since the 1800s and are home to over 30,000 different plant species. It is also home to one of the largest herbariums in the world, holding seven million preserved plant specimens. There are also world class attractions including The Hive, which is a large beehive like building where you can learn all about the life of bees.

There are other activities such as a treetop walkway where you can walk above the gardens and view them from a birds eye perspective. The Kew Gardens are also home to the largest surviving Victorian glasshouse in the world, The Temperate House, but visitors should note that it is closed for refurbishment until 2018. Kew Gardens are open from 10am but closing times may vary due to seasons and days. Tickets are available for purchase here.
